On Friday, Dec. 14, 2018 students from the fourth- and fifth-grade dual-language classes at Doña Ana Elementary School participated in the annual Spanish Spelling Bee.

Judges for the event included:

  • Martha Granillo, LCPS Family and Community Support Specialist
  • Esmeralda De Anda, Kindergarten Educational Assistant at Doña Ana Elementary

Karla Gomez won first place in the event. Second place with to Anais Gonzales and Zaira Campos took home the third-place prize. Students were given a variety of words from the National Spanish Spelling Bee list.

“We are very grateful for the support that our principal, Mrs. Cherie Love, and Mrs. Emma Castañeda, our assistant principal, provide our staff and students,” said Cristina Perea, Bilingual Title I Interventionist at Doña Ana Elementary School.
