Memorial Medical Center, MountainView Regional Medical Center, Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine, with the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) will be hosting Boo to the Flu FREE immunization clinics on the following Saturdays throughout the month of October.
Boo to the Flu will be hosted at Memorial Medical Center for ages 13 years and older as a drive thru event that will take place Saturday, October 17th. A walk-through kid’s flu shot clinic for children under 19 years old, available Saturday, October 31st. Kids highly encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. Both vaccination events will be from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm or while supplies last.
There is no charge for the vaccinations, but anyone with insurance should bring their insurance card, including Medicaid or Medicare, with them.
Saturday, October 17th – Flu shot drive thru- Drive-thru event will be provided for ages 13yrs or older. Drive thru will be held on the north side parking lot of Memorial Medical Center. Please approach from Telshor Blvd. to Terrace Dr. to enter the drive thru. 8:00 am- 12:00 pm or until supplies last.
Saturday, October 31st – Walk-through kids flu shot clinic- Families with children under 18-years-old will be required to park and enter from Memorial Medical Center’s West Annex Building. Face masks that cover the nose and mouth will need to be worn at all times. 8:00am- 12:00 pm or until supplies last
The NMDOH recommends everyone six months of age and older get a flu vaccine each flu season. People in the following groups are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated as well as those who live with and/or care for people at high risk. High risk people can develop serious flu‐related complications that could lead to hospitalization and/or death:
Children younger than five years old, but especially children younger than two years old
• Pregnant women (any trimester, and up to two weeks post-partum)
• People age 50 and older
• People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions like asthma, diabetes, lung or heart disease, and those who are immunocompromised
• People who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities
• People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu, including healthcare personnel and caregivers of babies younger than 6 months
• American Indians and Alaskan Natives
• People who are morbidly obese
