You’re cordially invited to view the 2021 New Mexico Music Educators Association honor ensemble performances presented by the Centennial High School Bella Voce and the Las Cruces High School Wind Symphony.

This year, LCPS has two NMMEA honor ensembles. The Centennial High School Bella Voce, under the direction of Christa Fredrickson, has been selected at the 2021 NMMEA Honor Choir and the Las Cruces High School Wind Symphony, under the direction of Ty Frederick and Tai Mikulecky, has been selected as the 2021 NMMEA Honor Band.

CHS Bella Voce

The selection highlights the strength of these respective school programs and the quality of music education in our district.  It is very rare that two honor ensembles from the same school district are selected in the same year.

The concerts will be held virtually this year. Under normal circumstances, administrators and school board members typically travel to Albuquerque to support honor ensemble students and teachers. This year, you can support these two programs from the comfort of your home.

Tune in on January 9, 2021, at 1:15 p.m. for the All Choir Honor Concert – Centennial Bella Voce, Christa Fredrickson, followed by the Las Cruces High School Wind Symphony, Ty Frederick director Presiding: Jennifer Rogers.

About the New Mexico Music Educators Association:

NMMEA designates “Honor Ensembles” from across the state. The purpose of the Honor designation is to recognize outstanding New Mexico music ensembles and student achievement in musical performance. To be considered for selection, directors of school ensembles are required to submit an application in June with recordings of the ensemble from the most recent school year. Recordings are then evaluated by a blind committee of respected music educators. Upon evaluation, each recording is scored and the ensembles with the highest score in each category are given the distinction of “Honor Ensemble” and are then invited to perform at the next NMMEA All-State Music Festival & In-Service Conference.
