Family and Community Support Coordinator

Mission

Assist in the supervision and the implementation family and community involvement initiatives at the local schools; provides support services and facilitates school/home communication between families and offers resources for families focused on literacy and numeracy including parent workshops to support their children’s education.

Responsibilities

  1. Assists in planning and organizing meetings, events, workshops, classes and trainings for students, families, community members and LCPS employees.
  2. Assists in creating documents, procedures and reports regarding community involvement events and workshops offered to parents and provide technical support to families using available language software programs.
  3. Assists in collaborating within Dual Language and Migrant Education program personnel, community members, and external stakeholders to identify resources and assist Title III served and immigrant families.
  4. Assists in promoting and enrolling EL students into Early College or concurrent enrollment program or courses designed to help ELs achieve success in post-secondary education.
  5. Assists in establishing partnerships with local agencies to provide immigrant parents with ESL, GED, and computer skills classes.
  6. Organizes supplemental academic tutoring for immigrant students during and after school hours above what is already provided to other students.
  7. Assists in arranging translation and interpretation services for Title III served families.
  8. Provide technical assistance to local schools in the use of programs to promote Title III, Title IV and Title I served families and community involvement.
  9. Assists in the operation of language acquisition programs by assisting in student registrations, monitoring student progress, running weekly reports for schools, provide training and manage the English language acquisition program portal for EL students, EL parents, LCPS staff.
