On April 30, Las Cruces Public Schools honored nearly 70 outstanding seniors in a special celebration of academic excellence and post-secondary commitments. The annual event, held in the multipurpose room at Arrowhead Park Early College High School, recognized students from Arrowhead Park, Centennial, Las Cruces, Mayfield, Organ Mountain High School, and Rio Grande Preparatory Institute.
Surrounded by proud family members, friends, and educators, these exceptional students were recognized not only for their academic achievements, but also for their plans to continue their education at colleges and universities across the country.
Before the ceremony began, students were invited to capture the moment with selfies and group photos, joined by parents and educators in a joyful celebration of their accomplishments.
Principals from each high school joined district leaders and the Board of Education on stage to present members of the Class of 2025 with a medal of recognition—honoring their academic dedication and future aspirations.
Academic signing day began in 2015 and was designed to mirror the excitement of athletic signing days by shining a spotlight on academic success and post-secondary decisions with equal pride. Academic ambassadors from each high school are selected annually to participate in the ceremony.
Dr. Wendi Miller-Tomlinson, Deputy Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Research, served as the host. As part of the celebration, students wore t-shirts, sweatshirts, or caps representing their chosen colleges. Each honoree was invited to share their college destination and a personal highlight, including what they plan to major in.
The event was open to the public and available to view virtually using this link.
