More than 400 kids from throughout Dona Ana County and 200-plus volunteers from law enforcement and various organizations participated in the Cops and Kids shopping experience Saturday morning at the Walmart on Rinconada Boulevard.
The event is sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 8, in partnership with the Las Cruces Public Schools’ Title 1 Part C program and Walmart. All area Walmart stores helped make this experience possible.
A big THANK YOU to all who participated! You brought smiles to many families. ❤️

Congratulations to the team at the Challenger Learning Center of Las Cruces!
Time to celebrate some milestones! Today, Commander Jensen flew his 1000th mission. Commander Switzer hit that mark just last month. Commander Guitar has now surpassed 1250 missions and is looking forward to 1500. Help us in congratulating our flight directors for their work with Las Cruces youth. Their mission is to inspire students to pursue STEM related careers.

Enjoy!

In November, our students were part of a worldwide cup stacking competition where they joined other students to set a new record. Way to go Conlee students!! Thank you Coach Weir for having our students participate and bringing out the best in them!

Our friends at Safe Routes to School teamed up with Southwest Disposal Las Cruces to assemble 178 bikes for 2nd and 3rd grade students in Las Cruces Public Schools who won a writing contest.
Southwest Disposal raised $5,500, and their corporate office generously matched the amount, making it possible to purchase all these bikes! Their hard work, kindness, and generosity are truly inspiring. What an incredible gift to our community.
Safe Routes to School will be giving the bikes to winners of the writing contest next weekend.

As the holiday season approaches, we invite you to join our friends in Federal Programs in spreading a little extra joy to our students. Many children in our district are hoping for a gift this Christmas, and with your support, we can help make their wish come true.
In the lobby of the Dr. Karen M. Trujillo Administration Complex (505 S. Main St., Suite 249), you’ll find the Wish Upon a Star Tree, each star representing an LCPS student. Every star includes a child’s name, grade level, clothing size, and a heartfelt Christmas wish.
There are still 90 stars waiting to be chosen. If you feel called to brighten a child’s holiday, please select one (or more) and bring it to the receptionist or to the Federal Programs Department so we can register your gift.
Extended deadline: Wrapped gifts may be returned to the Federal Programs Department through Wednesday, Dec. 10, by 5:00 p.m.
If you have questions or would like to help spread the word, please contact Iggy Campos in the Department of Federal Programs at 575-527-6643 or icampos@lcps.net.
Thank you for helping us share warmth, kindness, and holiday cheer with our students. Your generosity truly makes a difference.
Meet the movers and shakers of the Las Margaritas Golf Club in Las Cruces!
Each year, this incredible group of women host the Las Margaritas Golf Tournament and other community events to raise funds for the Project Link Homeless Education Program (McKinney-Vento), supporting students in Las Cruces Public Schools.
Today, these remarkable women met with our Federal Programs team and presented a check for $7,347 to help ensure students experiencing homelessness have the resources they need to succeed.
Project Link works to improve educational outcomes by providing tutoring, school supplies, hygiene essentials, snacks, clothing and other critical supports that help students stay engaged and thrive in school.
Thank you, Las Margaritas Golf Club, for your unwavering generosity and dedication to our students!
Special thanks to Linda Peterson, Genevieve Trujillo, Cecile Sayah, Kathrine Natzke and Ana De Coste.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but our schools have been celebrating the season of gratitude all month long. Families were welcomed at their child’s school for a special tradition of love and togetherness.
A heartfelt thank-you to our Nutrition Services staff for preparing Thanksgiving meals with such care. Our appreciation also goes to the teachers and staff who make these celebrations possible and to the families who gathered with us to share in the spirit of gratitude.
Happy Thanksgiving!
