In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Las Cruces Public Schools is proud to honor the courage and resilience of district employees who are breast cancer survivors and warriors. These remarkable women, and all those who continue to fight, are shining examples of hope, healing and unwavering spirit.
From October 14–18, LCPS will observe Warriors Week, a special time to honor these incredible individuals. A photo exhibit will be displayed to celebrate their strength and to uplift the voices of survivors and warriors within our LCPS family.
We are proud to recognize the breast cancer survivors and warriors of our district:
• Lily Aranda (Central Office)
• Dusty Dowell (Centennial High School)
• Valerie Dunagan (Mesa Middle School)
• Kathleen Guitar (Challenger Learning Center)
• Karen Hanson-Sharp (Mayfield High School)
• Melissa Hunt (Booker T. Washington Elementary)
• Brandy Snyder (Rio Grande Preparatory Institute)
• Crystal Valdez (Finance Department)
• Amber Jensen (Mayfield High School)
• Brenda Arambula (Centennial High School)
• Shawn Mena (Camino Real Middle School)
• Jeneca Maya Montoya (Vista Middle School)
• Cynthia Aguilar (Jornada Elementary School)
These women have volunteered to share their inspirational testimonies. Through their powerful stories, they remind us of the strength found in compassion, the unity forged through shared struggle and the enduring power of perseverance.
We also encourage our entire community to prioritize health. Regular mammograms are recommended every two years and are an important step in early detection and care. Please take time to schedule yours and remind your loved ones to do the same.
Together, we honor. Together, we remember. Together, we fight.
