In the summer, the Las Cruces Public Schools Safe Routes to school program suffered a setback. On June 17, a storage area at Lynn middle school was broken into and nine bicycles were stolen.
Working quickly with Las Cruces police, our safe routes coordinator, Ashleigh Curry, gathered her team and started searching through social media for any tips or leads on recovering the bikes. After recognizing one of the bikes for sale on Facebook, Ashleigh notified the police, and through a series of quick investigative work, a theft ring was discovered, an arrest was made, and five of the bicycles were recovered, along with two stolen vehicles that were part of a separate investigation.
For their diligent work, Las Cruces Public Schools would like to thank Officer Austin Kane of LCPD and Lieutenant Joy Wiitala. The LCPD unit that investigated and recovered the bikes was the Community Street Crimes Unit, along with the following personnel:

The Las Cruces High School FFA Chapter Annual Back To School BBQ was a huge success with 150 members and parents attending. The Bulldawgs had good food, fellowship, and kicked off the new year welcoming new and returning members. Looking forward to another great year!
What an incredible Saturday at the LCPS Field of Dreams Softball Complex for the MHS vs LCHS Rivalry Games! 🏆 MHS ENLACE brought the heat in Cornhole, Mario Kart, and an epic Ice Cream Sandwich Contest! Mr. Morales & Mr. Narvaez even joined the fun in a staff kickball showdown. 🥎 Although LCHS won the game 8-2, the spirit and energy were unmatched. A perfect way to kick off rivalry week!

Now that the school year has begun, the Cruces Creatives team would like to inform all teachers and community members about their Community Share program, which allows teachers to receive mini grants of up to $500.00 per class! This initiative aims to enhance students' education by facilitating connections with community members to collaborate on meaningful projects. At the State FFA Agriculture Community Competition, teams develop and present a comprehensive development plan from an agricultural topic.
Participants are judged by their ability to effectively convey their message through various communication channels including print, digital, and oral presentation.
We are thrilled to recognize the team from LCHS, Zia Miller, Jaden Miller, Lily Martinez and Paisley Anderson for winning 1st place in the FFA Agriculture Community Competition.

We would like to acknowledge the achievements in the FFA Agriscience Fair. This competitive event allows FFA members to display their Agriscience research projects, participants conduct experiments in various agriculture fields and present their findings through displays and presentations at local, state, and national levels.
We are proud of Lacey Knight from LCHS for winning first place at state during the FFA Agriscience Fair. She will head to Indianapolis in October to compete at Nationals. We are also recognizing Lacey for her exceptional work in the FFA scrapbook competition.
