Las Cruces Public Schools is proud to celebrate Mesilla Valley Leadership Academy (MVLA) student Adam Cram, who recently earned first place in the District 19 Optimist Essay Contest for New Mexico and West Texas.
Cram, an eighth-grade student at MVLA, received the honor for his essay based on the theme, “How My Acts of Service Help Me Understand What My Community Means to Me.” As the district winner, he was awarded a $2,500 scholarship. His essay will also be featured in The Optimist magazine, published by Optimist International.
“Adam did an outstanding job expressing this year’s theme through thoughtful writing and personal reflection,” said Patricia Siewert, District Essay Chair. “His essay truly captured the importance of service and community.”
The Optimist Essay Contest encourages young people to develop and express their opinions about the world around them through writing. District 19 has participated in the contest for more than 20 years.
