Thank you to our community partners from the Sprouts Foundation! The Las Cruces Public Schools Nutrition Services Department was awarded $10,000 from the Sprouts Foundation for child nutrition. The money will be used to revive the school garden at Valley View Elementary and help children learn the importance of healthy eating habits. Students along with teacher participation will learn to harvest fruits and vegetables. Students will learn about sustainable agriculture and the importance of nature. Social and emotional development will be promoted by helping students recognize a sense of place and belonging. #SproutingHealthyCommunitiesDay

Students along with teacher participation will learn to harvest fruits and vegetables.   Students will learn about sustainable agriculture and the importance of nature. Social and emotional development will be promoted by helping students recognize a sense of place and belonging.
Today, Mayfield High School hosted the AFJROTC 9/11 Memorial Ceremony. Community members and law enforcement agencies gathered to honor the men and women who lost their lives on that tragic day. During the ceremony, the National Flag was presented to the MHS AFJROTC Honor Guard from Officer David Perez, ret. NYPD Officer assigned to NYPD during the attacks. Araelia Aizpuru, AFJROTC Cadet Captain spoke at the podium and Cadet 1Lt Riley Bowen led the Chaplin prayer. Also in attendance, the LCPD Honor Guard, Las Cruces Fire Department, and the United States Army Herald Trumpets, Washington D.C.
