Las Cruces Public Schools will host its annual State of the District Address on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. at the Las Cruces Convention Center. Superintendent Ignacio Ruiz will provide an overview of the district's progress, celebrate accomplishments and outline priorities that will guide the district's work in the coming year.
The annual address provides an opportunity to reflect on the district's achievements, examine challenges facing public education and share the strategies LCPS is implementing to support student success.
Building on the district's strategic plan, which extends through 2029, Ruiz is expected to address key priorities, including student achievement, literacy and mathematics, attendance, student well-being and the district's long-term financial sustainability.
The State of the District also provides an opportunity to recognize the contributions of educators, support staff, families and community partners whose work helps create meaningful opportunities for more than 21,000 students across LCPS.
Last year's address, themed Charting the Course, highlighted the district's strategic vision and its commitment to creating an educational environment where all learners thrive. This year's event, The Future is Taking Shape, will continue that conversation, providing an update on district progress while looking ahead to emerging opportunities and challenges.
The 2026 State of the District Address will be livestreamed, courtesy of LCPS-TV, on the district's official YouTube channel.
