Equity, Innovation, and Social Justice

Vision

We will support and serve all, by ensuring equitable access to learning by continually evolving through innovation promoting social justice and cultural diversity.

Mission

We nurture a culture of active engagement to involve all learners through respect of others, communication, collaboration, and self-reflection which facilitates academic success, social emotional development and excellence.

The Division of Equity, Innovation, and Social Justice is composed of the following departments and programs:

Dr. Roberto Lozano

Dr. Lozano began his career in education with LCPS in 2005 after earning a B.S. in Elementary Bilingual Education from New Mexico State University (NMSU). He also earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from NMSU. Dr. Lozano has served in different leadership capacities throughout his career including, high school assistant principal, elementary principal, and District Bilingual Director. Dr. Lozano’s favorite part of his job is being in classrooms and seeing students engaged in learning. He is also passionate about engaging parents in the education of their children. In his free time, Dr. Lozano enjoys spending time with his wife Patricia and two kids, Isabel and Diego.

Amy is a 25 year New Mexico educator. She has taught elementary school, high school, and served as a school counselor. Currently, Amy is the Director of Academic Counseling and Behavioral Health for Las Cruces Public Schools. She has three children; one attending NMSU, one attending UNM, and a junior at Centennial High School in Las Cruces.

Amy serves as a voting member on Regent Arsenio Romero's Student Success Committee (NMSU), and as an Ex Offico member on the Supreme Court Commission on Mental Health and Competency.

Dr. Aine Garcia-Post

Dr. Aine García-Post has been an educator for 18 years.  She began her career in California as a Two-Way Bilingual Immersion teacher.  While in California Dr. García-Post was also an English Learner Instructional Coach.  Since moving to New Mexico, Dr. García-Post has held several roles within Las Cruces Public Schools.  She has been a teacher, an assistant principal, and a principal.  Dr. García-Post enjoys being a life-long learner and has degrees from the University of California, Santa Cruz (B.A.), San José State University (M.A.), and New Mexico State University (Ed.D).  She is passionate about education and strives to ensure that every student is supported, valued, and successful!

Steve Rodriguez began his career in education in 2005 as a special education teacher for LCPS after earning a B.S. in elementary and special education from NMSU. Mr. Rodriguez also earned his M.A. in educational administration from NMSU in 2012.

Mr. Rodriguez’s favorite part of the job is working with all the district stakeholders, from the students, parents, staff, and community members. Working towards making our district a place where everyone is treated with respect, provided opportunities to learn and be successful. His favorite things to do outside of work, spending time with family, hiking, other outdoor activities and traveling.

Carla Ragan

Ms. Ragan has been working in education for 24 years, 22 of which are with LCPS. She has held several positions in our district throughout her career to include; Teacher, Title I Interventionist/Instructional Specialist, Assistant Principal, Principal and her current role as the Executive Director of Federal Programs. Ms. Ragan loves spending time with her family, reading and all type of arts and crafts! She has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Reading and Technology Endorsements and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration.
