Title I funds provide supplemental educational support for children who are failing or at-risk of failing to meet the state’s academic standards. Title I staff collaborate with the LCPS Department of Instruction, other departments and schools to plan, develop, and implement research-based instructional practices/programs that enhance and support the achievement of Title I students.
Schools are eligible to receive Title I services if they are in a low-income area. Identification of Title I schools is based on the number of students in a school who qualify for free or reduced price lunches.
Neglected & Delinquent
(N & D) Institution Services
Title I, Part D seeks to improve educational services for children and youth in local and state institutions that serve neglected or delinquent children and youth so that they may have the opportunity to meet the same challenging state academic content and achievement standards that all children in New Mexico are expected to meet.
LCPS Title I provides instructional support for children and youth detained at the Doña Ana County Detention Center, as well as for those placed at Mesilla Valley Hospital. Supplemental staff, technology, and a variety of educational resources afford students at these sites increased opportunity for academic success.
