Michelle Ronga Named Principal at RGPI

Starting January 2, 2023, Michelle Ronga will walk through the doors at Rio Grande Preparatory Institute as the school’s newest principal. Las Cruces Public Schools made the announcement official Tuesday afternoon.

Ronga has spent the last 13 years of her educational career at Las Cruces High School, most recently as Principal at LCHS.

"This was an opportunity to create a more dynamic educational platform for students who don't thrive in traditional settings," Ronga said of taking on her new role at LCPS. “After COVID, we keep hearing how education needs to look different, and I believe RGPI has the framework to rebrand itself and build on a project-based, innovative learning platform.”

Ronga replaces Rebecca Rodriguez, who recently accepted a position as the assistant principal at Organ Mountain High School following the departure of Dr. Jamie Baker who recently took over the principal position at Zia Middle School. Baker replaces Kathleen Gardner, who retired this semester.

This is an exciting time in our district,” said LCPS Superintendent Ralph Ramos. “These leaders have made significant contributions at their respective campuses and our students are better for it.

Applications for the principal position at Las Cruces High School will be accepted through Jan. 2, 2023. For more information, visit www.lcps.net and click on ‘Employment’.
