LCPS Board of Education

At its scheduled January work session Tuesday evening, the Las Cruces Public Schools Board of Education elected a new slate of officers, unanimously voting in Teresa Tenorio as Board President. Tenorio, who represents District 4, formerly served as Vice President of the Board of Education.

“I am humbled, and I hope to serve our district well,” said Tenorio. “I believe in shared leadership, and I am grateful for the opportunity and the leadership of our outgoing president, Mr. Jaramillo.”

Following the election of President, Bob Wofford, District 3, nominated Secretary Pamela Cort for Vice President.  Again, the board unanimously approved the nomination. Wofford was then nominated to the position of Secretary, which passed with a unanimous vote.

The Board of Education discussed committee seats following the election of officers. District 5 Board Member Carol Cooper will continue to serve on the LCPS Audit Committee. Jolene Martinez, an LCPS parent, was nominated and elected to serve as the parent volunteer on the audit committee while Jim New, a community member, was nominated to serve as volunteer. Secretary Wofford will chair the LCPS Finance Committee.
