Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month | Sept. 15–Oct. 15
National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated nationwide from September 15 through October 15. At Las Cruces Public Schools, we honor the month by giving students opportunities to connect with the history, culture, and traditions that shape our community.
Over the weekend, Zia Middle School students participated in the Diez y Seis de Septiembre Fiesta in Mesilla, bringing this year’s Lotería theme to life. Back at school, students created their own Lotería cards and explored the connections between culture, identity, and community.
Next week, they’ll continue with a Piñata Workshop, creating their own piñatas while learning about the art form’s history and significance.
We’re proud to honor Hispanic Heritage Month by making these connections part of the student experience at LCPS.
