Flashback Friday takes us back to 2022 at Monte Vista Elementary School, where graduating seniors returned to the campus for the annual Senior Walk. Members of the Class of 2022 walked the halls where their educational journey first began, celebrating how far they had come while inspiring the next generation of Monte Vista students.
As we look back on this special moment, Monte Vista Elementary is also preparing to celebrate a major milestone of its own. On May 15, the school will celebrate its quinceañera and 15 years of serving students, families, and the Las Cruces community.

From helping with the move into Columbia Elementary and participating in the ribbon cutting ceremony to supporting events like the Thrill and Grill BBQ, the Elementary Leadership Conference, and the Tell the Story Film Showcase.
These students brought energy, teamwork, and leadership to every event. Those are just a few of the many ways they made a tremendous impact across LCPS.
During the meeting, seniors were also honored with Senior Stoles in recognition of their dedication and leadership.

Congratulations to Emery Guadian, a sophomore at Mayfield High School, for earning Best in Show in the 5th Annual Dr. Karen M. Trujillo Student Poetry Contest for her poem, “The Low Tide in Twilight.”
Emery was recognized during the LCPS Board of Education meeting in April and received a $500 prize for her outstanding work.
Special thanks to Timothy Staley at OMHS for hosting and supporting this year’s poetry contest.
Since its inaugural year in 2022, the contest has awarded $10,000 in student prizes, made possible through a generous anonymous donor and the Karen M. Trujillo Foundation.
The contest honors the legacy of Karen M. Trujillo and continues to celebrate creativity, voice, and student excellence across our schools.

This week, we’re celebrating Sonoma Elementary’s Tanna Miller for her incredible leadership and passion for physical education across LCPS! 💜💪
As both a PE teacher and district PE content specialist, Tanna has helped create new opportunities for students through partnerships with the City of Las Cruces, FIFA/US Soccer Federation, Elite Family Entertainment and local youth sports organizations. She also launched LCPS’ growing Water Safety Program for third graders, helping students build confidence and safety skills in and around the water. Just this week, Tanna led the district's annual 5th grade track meet at the Field of Dreams, an event all LCPS elementary schools look forward to.
Tanna has led the development of K-12 PE instructional guides and proficiency scales, organized districtwide wellness events, strengthened professional learning for PE teachers and helped expand opportunities for healthy living and student engagement across our community.

Las Cruces Public Schools has restored all network systems following the districtwide outage that impacted select communications platforms, including email and ParentSquare Wednesday night.
District technology teams worked to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and all systems are now operational. We appreciate the patience and understanding shown by our staff, students and families during the disruption.

Las Cruces Public Schools is currently experiencing a districtwide network outage impacting several communication systems, including email and ParentSquare. As a result, staff communication capabilities are limited, and the district is temporarily unable to send messages to families through ParentSquare.
Our technology teams are actively working to identify the cause of the outage and restore services as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this issue.
