Valley View Elementary knows how to celebrate bilingualism! On Friday, eight incredible students earned their Elementary Bilingual Seal.
The celebration was filled with amazing performances by NMSU’s Ballet Folklorico and Mariachi Jalisciense (shoutout to one of LCPS Board President Cort’s former students!), plus a look at the students' portfolios.
The night ended with food, fun, and games! Bilingualism truly is a superpower!

Thrive with Cariño: Celebrating our Bullpup Leaders at Valley View Elementary!
We’re excited to share that Thrive with Cariño—a partnership between LCPS’s Vision Thrive Las Cruces Public Schools and the City of Las Cruces’s Cariño Initiative—is recognizing students who make a difference in their schools and communities!
This month, our very own Bullpup scholar Zy'aiere was chosen as the Thrive with Cariño Student! Zy'aiere leads by example, showing respect, responsibility, and kindness every day. Great student leaders like him inspire others, stay positive, and work hard to make their school a better place. Whether helping classmates, showing perseverance, or bringing great ideas to the table, Zy'aiere represents what it means to be a true Bullpup leader!

Stay in the Know! Don’t miss out on this month’s events—mark your calendars for all the exciting happenings ahead! Wishing the best of luck to all our teams this April! #thrive575 #lcpsactivities #LasCrucesPublicSchools

This week, our Thrive Thursday Spotlight is Joe Holguin, from Fairacres Elementary!
Keeping a school spotless is no small task, but Joe Holguin has been doing it with a smile and a splash of creativity! As the lead custodian at Fairacres Elementary School, Joe isn’t just sweeping floors; he’s sweeping students off their feet with his mentorship, kindness, and artistic talents.
From crafting incredible props for school events to turning ordinary decorations into works of art, Joe brings imagination to every corner of the campus. His creativity isn’t just seen, it’s felt in the excitement of students and staff alike. And when he's not making the school shine, he’s sharing his knowledge, skills, and creativity to teach and inspire students.
As Joe puts it, “When kids learn, we all learn.” Fairacres is lucky to have him—because a school doesn’t just need to be clean, it needs heart, and Joe has been providing plenty of it!
