LCPS Parents,
Las Cruces Public Schools is closely monitoring a social media threat that appears to be targeted to all New Mexico schools. While the evidence suggests that these threats are likely hoaxes, our commitment to the safety and well-being of our students and staff remains our highest priority. Our school administration is working closely with law enforcement to thoroughly investigate these incidents, and we continue to prioritize safety at all schools.
We recognize that threats of this nature are often amplified by the media, which can cause unnecessary fear. It’s important for children to hear from their parents that it is safe to attend school, and we encourage our community to come together to support and assure one another that our schools remain safe spaces for learning. We can all do our part by staying vigilant, and we encourage parents to closely monitor their child’s online activity and promptly report anything of concern to the school.
If you observe any suspicious activity, please report it anonymously using the STOPit app at the following link: https://appweb.stopitsolutions.com/directory. To make an anonymous report, simply enter the name of the school in the link provided. We are also including a flyer with information on how to download the app.
As always, we thank you in advance for your understanding and patience as we work through these situations. Our partnership with you is crucial in maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
Las Cruces Public Schools

Looking for a great career where you can make a difference in our community? Join LCPS at a job fair for Educational Assistants on Sept. 26 from 10 to 2 p.m. at our main office, 505 S. Main St. in Las Cruces. Bring your resume and enthusiasm! We would love to meet you.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
This morning, we are addressing another social media threat, this time targeting Sierra Middle School. As we've observed over the past week, threats can affect any school.
Please be assured that we are aware of these posts, as is law enforcement. On Monday, two students have been charged with making unlawful threats toward a school. These charges are severe and carry both financial and legal repercussions, and they have already caused significant disruption to our school day.
Violence has no place in our schools. If you believe your child has come across troubling content online, please reach out to your child’s school as your first step. Las Cruces Public Schools is dedicated to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff, and we will continue to work closely with local and federal authorities to ensure their safety.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
