The 2024 HOSA International Competition was held in Houston, Texas. During the annual event, students from around the world compete in various health-related events, demonstrating their knowledge, skills and leadership in health professions.

Hats off to Riya Ramesh from Centennial High School for ranking Top 10 at Nationals in Clinical Nursing.
We would like to celebrate Jadzia Murphy from CHS for her outstanding performance in the Educators Rising Lesson Planning and Delivery Humanities Competition.
Jadzia developed and presented an original humanities lesson plan and was evaluated on her ability to create engaging, effective, lesson plans and deliver them in a classroom setting.
Her efforts earned her third-place at the national competition that was held June 28-July 1 in Washington D.C.
LCPS would like to recognize Tanner Dean from Mayfield High School for his FFA State Proficiency Award in Goat Production.
This highlights his skills, knowledge, and achievement in breeding, raising, and managing goats. Tanner's dedication to his supervised agricultural experience project has earned him his prestigious 1st place award at state.

At the State FFA Agriculture Community Competition, teams develop and present a comprehensive development plan from an agricultural topic.
Participants are judged by their ability to effectively convey their message through various communication channels including print, digital, and oral presentation.
We are thrilled to recognize the team from LCHS, Zia Miller, Jaden Miller, Lily Martinez and Paisley Anderson for winning 1st place in the FFA Agriculture Community Competition.

We would like to acknowledge the achievements in the FFA Agriscience Fair. This competitive event allows FFA members to display their Agriscience research projects, participants conduct experiments in various agriculture fields and present their findings through displays and presentations at local, state, and national levels.
We are proud of Lacey Knight from LCHS for winning first place at state during the FFA Agriscience Fair. She will head to Indianapolis in October to compete at Nationals. We are also recognizing Lacey for her exceptional work in the FFA scrapbook competition.

Ongoing construction at Desert Hills Elementary will impact parking and traffic along Roadrunner Parkway, beginning Monday, Aug. 5. Here are some key changes:
* Parent Parking for 3rd-5th Grades:
Parents will continue using the parking lot at the Storage Facility and walk their children to the southwest entrance.
Pedestrians should continue using the existing crosswalk, then walk south along Roadrunner Parkway to the asphalt walkway leading to the school.
* Bus Entry:
Busses will enter on the north side of the school.
* Staff Parking:
Designated area on the north side.
* Pickup and Drop-off for NM PreK-2nd Grade:
Designated area on the north side.
* Visitor Entrance:
Visitors will enter through the new kinder wing. Upon arrival, please call the office for access. There will be signs to guide everyone.
We appreciate your patience during this construction period. These arrangements are temporary and are expected to be in place until November, when we anticipate the project will be complete. Thank you for your cooperation.

The air conditioning at Centennial High School is not working at full capacity. Keeping areas for classroom instruction cool is the top priority.
Students have been moved to other areas of the campus while the LCPS HVAC technicians work on fixing the issue.
